Tom Parker, the singer of British band The Wanted, has died of brain cancer. He was 33 years old.
Parker’s wife, Kelsey, confirmed his death on Instagram on Wednesday, writing: “With this extremely heavy heart we are confirming that Tom died peacefully this morning with all of his family by his side.”
“Our hearts are broken, Tom was the center of our world and we can’t imagine life without his contagious smile and energetic presence. We are truly grateful for the love and support and we ask everyone to come together to continue Tom’s light. To shine for, “Kelsey Parker continued. “Thanks to everyone who supported her care, she fought to the end. I’m proud of you forever.”
Reacting to Parker’s death, The Wanted wrote on Instagram, “Max, Jay, Siva, Nathan and the entire Wanted family are devastated by the sad and untimely loss of our bandmate Tom Parker, who died peacefully this afternoon with his family and his band. . “
“He was our brother. Words cannot express the loss and grief we feel. Always and forever in our hearts,” the band continued.
Parker was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer, after experiencing convulsions in October 2020. “We are all devastated but we will fight against it,” he said at the time.
The singer would periodically share progress updates with fans, most recently in November, when he announced that his tumors were “controlled” and “stable” after radiation and treatment.
Parker and The Wanted gained fame in the early 2010’s with their hits “Glad You Come” and “Chasing the Sun”. He is survived by his wife as well as his 2-year-old daughter Aurelia and 1-year-old son Bodhi.
