Just recieved an email from the team from Last.fm competitor Spotify about their experiment with advertising within the service. This is still in beta but they are now rolling out these ads to include almost all beta testers.

Ads will both be in the form of audio spots and banners. I haven’t seen the actual banners or spots yet, but it will be interesting to see how this will change the user experience. Personally I think radio spots are the worst kind of intrusive advertising and I’m not sure that is a model that would make me loyal to Spotify or not. I’m more of a Last.fm user right now, but I think the UI looks great in Spotify and it is a very interesting service, not only because it’s Swedish..
