TechCrunch writes that Warner Music wants to put a tax on music. Money from the fees is to be centralized in a pool lead by industry veteran Jim Griffin from which money will be distributed to different artists. The goal is to collect 5 dollars per month from everybody. This would generate a total of 20 billion dollars which is twice as much as what the record industry is making ant the moment.

This sounds quite absurd that the music industry is trying to build a system where they would double their own income when the consumers are turning their back on them.
