Toluu - a quick review

I finally got hold of an invite to Toluu. First impression, this could really be a hit but it’s still a long way to get there. Since it’s still a beta they got alot of bugs to fix. For instance I can’t deselect the option to not notify me via e-mail everytime one of my contacts adds a feed. I guess these kinds of bugs will be history soon, because I did submit this bug.

Besides all the bugs the first impression is rather good. The import of all my feeds worked out very smoothly. As mentioned before Toluu supports OPML. The first thing you will notice is that your feeds are automatically compared to other users feeds. You can easily access a list of other users with similiar feeds. Works just like Last.fm’s Taste-o-meter. But I must admit I’m not going to use Toluu to discover people with similiar interests. Thereby my opinion is that Toluu is a great service for people who want to check out what feeds other friends reads and hopefully discover a bunch of new feeds. So I hope my friends will start using Toluu when it goes public. But I will still stick to NetNewsWire as my rss-reader of choice. Toluu will thereby help me discover and share feeds with my friends.

So overall Toluu is a great service, but there’s still some work left. Hopefully more and more people will start using this service as soon as it goes public, and then it’s real purpose will work out as mentioned before.

If you want to try out this service just post your name and mail adress in the comment section and we will send you an invite.
