Social media and networking are taking giant steps this year and content on demand is ever increasingly a serious contender of traditional mediaconsumption.  BBC Radio has f ex developed a prototype system with DAB and WiFi which allows social listening; meaning you are alerted when any of your friends are listening to radio and giving you the option to connect and tune in to the same station and also create a backbone for recommendations and social networking around your radio tastes. More info around this project and other examples of mass participatory radio systems here.
