On May 8th it is time for the sixth Portfolio Night. This time 21 cities (so far) has signed up. On this night you have the opportunity to show your portfolio for people in the ad agency business. Many creative people have started their journey on this very night so it might not be such a bad idea to attend. None of the Scandinavian cities have signed up yet though, why is that? The people behind this event is Ihaveanidea, and on their website you can sign up for a newsletter if you want to be updated on this and other things they do.

On Friday 7th of Mars another arena for showing off your ideas opens. MyPitch is a new website giving you the opportunity to pitch for a job no matter who you are. Regardless if you work at an agency or not this might be the chance for you to win a creative pitch. They say that it’s all about how good you idea is! Sign up for the first brief and it will arrive in your mail box on Friday.

I think it’s interesting that MyPitch (a Swedish company) opens up to the world but I also understand people saying what about a long time relationship with the client, doesn’t that matter anymore? As a company looking for some creative ideas this doesn’t mean that they have to choose. Most of them will probably still have one or more agency’s that they keep on working with. But occasionally these companies want to see what other ideas are out there. Some competition is healthy isn’t that what they always say? And sure it will be easier for companies to keep track of what their competitors are up to, but I suppose that is part of the plan. Otherwise you wouldn’t put your brief out there.

I hope we as none participants will be able to see some of the work later on. It would be interesting to see what the world say about the chosen idea and the ones not chosen. It’s all about transparency these days!
